Digital signage costs: what to expect

Costs depend on hardware, software, and content. Here’s how to think about it. And how to run signage without media players to cut cost.

Guide · updated regularly

Traditional digital signage often includes one-time costs: media players (or sticks), cabling, and sometimes installation. Recurring costs are software (often per screen or per month) and possibly content or design.

A no-hardware approach uses the screens you already have (e.g. smart TVs) and runs the player in the browser. That removes media player and cabling cost. You pay for software (e.g. a monthly plan) and optionally content creation (or use AI to reduce that).

firmo is cloud-based and runs on any TV with a browser. There’s no per-screen hardware; you add screens by opening a URL. Pricing is based on screens and playlists, with a free tier to start. Updates are instant, so you don’t pay for slow or manual content changes.
